Roll Up Heat Pads are a convenient way of heating the underside of your nursery trays or propagating system.
They offer a quick and easy alternative to a permanent heat bed with heating cable.
A Roll up heat pad system can be easily rolled up and put into storage once the propagation phase is complete.
By warming the root zone of your propagating system or nursery area you can greatly improve the establishment rate and success of your cuttings or seedlings.
The heat pads are available in two widths and can be supplied in cut lengths up to 8 metres long:
550mm wide per metre NZ$133.00 + GST
800mm wide per metre NZ$178.00 + GST
Heat Pad Thermostat NZ$152.50 + GST
The order of installation is as follows:
- Install a table support frame with tabletop
- Place a minimum 25mm thick sheet of polystyrene on top of the support table (to prevent heat loss from under the heat pads)
- The Roll Up Heat Pad then unrolls over the top of the polystyrene sheet
- A waterproof film (e.g. Panda Film or Greenhouse film or Tarpaulin) is laid over the top of the heat pad to protect the heat pad from water and abrasion
- Place your nursery cell trays or carry trays on top of the film
- Plug the Roll Up Heat Pad into the heat pad thermostat (purchased separately)
- Insert the thermostat probe into your growing media and set the temperature.
- The heat pads are now ready to use.
The Roll Up Heat Pad element consists of a unique Carbon Ink Laminate between two layers of Mylar film. It has a copper electrode down either side of the Carbon Ink. The negative and positive wires are terminated at each copper strip. The element can be curved or wrapped around any object.
Note: For safety, sharp objects should not be used around the hear pads to prevent perforating the heating elements and risking electric shock. An RCD residual current device should be used with the heat pads. This immediately cuts the power if a break in current is detected.
