Sticky Traps

Sticky Traps  are an effective way for growers to monitor pest populations in their greenhouses. They are also a non toxic method of reducing pest numbers.

Insects are attracted to the bright colour of the traps and when they land on the trap they become stuck to the adhesive surface.

Leaf Miner and thrips are more attracted to blue traps whereas other insects are attracted to the yellow traps e.g aphids, fungus gnats, leafhoppers, fruit flies, moths, whiteflies etc.

The adhesive surface does not dry up or break down even when wet and the traps continue to work until they are totally covered in insects.

In greenhouse situations the traps can be placed vertically or horizontally under growing benches, on the edges of pots, close to roof or sidewall vents, near doorways and in suspected breeding areas outside the greenhouse.

The traps have a grid pattern on them to allow growers to easily assess population density and the effectiveness of any treatment program without having to assess the full trap.

For monitoring purposes, 25-50 traps per 10,000 m2 should be used.

For use as an effect way of pest control, e.g. in high pest population areas, at least 10 traps per 100 m² should be used.
