Free Fall Hooks

Free Fall  Hooks comprise of a steel bobbin with pre-wound twine.

The hooks are suspended from horizontal cross wires, which run under the greenhouse roof.

They are extensively used in tomato production as well as for other crops such as capsicums and beans.

As the plant grows it is clipped to the twine. This gives the plant permanent support and allows it to be trained in any direction.

The hooks are available in either 180mm or 220mm lengths.

The hook can be pre-wound with twine in the factory with customised lengths of up to 25 metres of twine.

Once the bulk of the twine is wound onto the bobbin, a special Free Fall clip is then attached to the hook. The exact length of twine from the base of the plant to the cross wire is then wound on top of the Free Fall clip e.g 10 metres of twine plus 4 metres of Free Fall twine.

The hook is then attached to the overhead cross wire and when the free fall clip is removed the 4 metre length of twine is released allowing it to free fall to the ground.

The twine is then attached to the base of the plant and the line is pulled tight. This eliminates having to manually unwind the hook until the correct length of twine is achieved.
